★★★★★ Pricing

Silicon 5505 is an industrial grade widely used in secondary aluminum casting. Its impurity limits (Fe ≤ 0.5 %, Al ≤ 0.5 %, Ca ≤ 0.05 %) make it suitable for most general-purpose AlSi alloys like 380, 383, and A413 where recovered aluminum is the base material. The nomenclature indicates maximum allowed levels: 55 = 0.5 % Fe + 0.5 % Al, 05 = 0.05 % Ca. We offer this grade with very competitive pricing and immediate availability.

Chemical Composition

ElementSymbolPercentage
Silicon Si ≥ 98.5 %
Iron Fe ≤ 0.50 %
Aluminum Al ≤ 0.50 %
Calcium Ca ≤ 0.05 %
Phosphorus P ≤ 0.04 %

Physical Properties

Property Value
Melting point 1,414 °C
Density 2.33 g/cm³
Form 10–100 mm lump
Color Gris metálico / Metallic grey

Metallurgical Function

Raise silicon content in Al-Si alloys to improve fluidity, reduce solidification shrinkage, and increase wear resistance.

Dosage & Usage

Variable depending on target alloy. To bring a secondary aluminum base to AlSi7 requires approximately 6–8 % addition. For AlSi11 (413), approximately 10–12 %. Add directly to molten bath and stir for complete dissolution.

Applications

  • AlSi casting alloys (356, 360, 380, 383, 413)
  • 6xxx series extrusion alloys
  • Secondary aluminum casting
  • Al-Si master alloy production

Industries
